That reminds me, a few years ago I heard a track by Pink. The backing was the entire rock part of Fresh Garbage. Not sure if it was a straight lift or another recording - don't know the title of her tune but there we go.
Back on the classic rock track - Zeppelin used to cover this (Fresh Garbage) when first touring...
When JP releases the Zep 1 box I hope v.v.v. much that a studio (or concert take - from the first 2 US tours ) of this "only-alternatively" ;) available number becomes available. The Zeppelin arrangement is quite different from the Mimms soul original and would have been a mind blowing inclusion on the first album. Or the second. Or Coda. Shame it wasn't recorded for the BBC Sessions...
Ironic title given how we don't actually HAVE it... it, um, has to fight it's way out of darkness one day...
Yes, there's been alternate takes of You Shook Me and Babe, I'm Gonna Leave you that have been around for a while. Not to mention the guitar organ instrumentals loosely based on the Babe I'm Gonna Leave you themes - but bearing not much resemblance to that number.
Given the conservatism of JP's choices for archive exploration (I would have thought a 4 CD version of the BBC Sessions (16LPs!) should have been officially available) for example, I wonder how much there will be that will justify a box set. Although what constitute a box set format (3 CDs or more?) I'm not sure. I really hope for material that has not been unofficially available.
Oh, I just thought of something he could release (for '70 III or ' 71 IV) - the jam Zeppelin had with CSNY. I read Peter Grant claimed the tapes - hopefully they are preserved somewhere awaiting release.
